Jaguar fun at Harewood Hillclimb

JEC TrackSport served up some real ‘Northern Soul’ to the tune of Jaguars running up the longest hill climb course in the UK, with its most recent event at Harewood Speed Hillclimb, near Harrogate.

More than eighty cars took to hill and entertained many more spectators, making this the biggest participation in a JEC Tracksport event so far.

Sunday 26th June proved to be the perfect day for enjoying the sunny weather with glorious views across the Wharfe Valley. A simply stunning array of Jaguars were on display spanning nearly seventy-five years of the brand’s history. From an early XK120 to models from the present day with two new I-Pace all-electric Jaguars all enjoying spirited drives up the hill. Nearly every model through that timeline was represented. Catching the eye were no less than three C-Type recreations looking splendid when lined up together. This was part of a very strong showing of classic cars with several XKs, along with Mk2s, a 420 and many E-types.

Commenting on the event, The JEC’s General Manager James Blackwell said “I’m thrilled to see so many members here, and with such a large variety of cars. They are not only enjoying driving up the hill but being together, socialising, and swapping stories. What could be better, glorious scenery, some fantastic Jaguars and friends getting together.”

Once again, we were indebted to our JEC TrackSport partner Swallows Racing for their technical support and assistance at the event. Jack Robinson from Swallows in his race prepared XJ40 was a constant runner up the hill all day, thrilling members with passenger runs around the tight and twisty course. Jack can be seen competing throughout the race season in his ‘40’ with the CTCRC championship and selected CSCC rounds.

As with all our JEC events, they are only possible to put on with support of not only our commercial partners but our volunteers. Huge thanks to Vicki & Mike Horlor and to Carol Robinson for helping to ensure that the day ran smoothly. A further word of thanks to the marshal team at Harewood for giving up their Sunday to make the day possible.

Colin Porter JEC TrackSport coordinator commented, “Harewood perfectly captured the essence and reason why we created JEC TrackSport. I can’t ever remember seeing such a wide variety Jaguars moving at speed and being enjoyed by their owners. It was a thrill not only for those taking part, but for the large numbers who came along to spectate. The club will continue to seek new ways, new venues, and new events for members to be able to enjoy their cars as they should be.”

Our JEC TrackSport calendar continues with our annual autumn track day at the historic Castle Combe circuit on 4th October where you can follow in the tyre tracks of such legends as Moss, Mansell and Senna.

We have a number of highly-qualified experts who can inspect your vehicle prior to purchase and provide you with a full written report. In addition to their complete understanding of the mechanical and aesthetic aspects of vehicle inspection, they have extensive experience with the Jaguar marque which perfectly equips them to identify the unique requirements of specific models and years, something that is particularly important for older cars.

The cost of an inspection begins at £100, with the final figure determined by the time needed and the distance the inspector is required to travel. We can guarantee that your inspection will be cheaper than an equivalent AA or RAC inspection.

This small upfront outlay could save you thousands in the long term.

To arrange an inspection simply call JEC Head Office on 0117 969 8186 and they will provide you with details of your nearest inspector.

Also from our club HQ in Bristol we can give you an official valuation for insurance purposes. Our valuations are accepted by all leading insurance brokers and Companies.

GETTING STARTED

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Insurance is designed specifically for members of the JEC. That’s why it covers JEC TrackSport events and offers cover for JEC Young Enthusiasts. Furthermore, the scheme recognises that members may have a combination of newer and more historic Jaguars and so the scheme caters for all, other individually or part of a multi-vehicle offering.

Club insurance doesn’t operate the way standard insurance does. While it does still take a vehicle’s mechanical characteristics into account, it also places a lot of emphasis on how the vehicle is used, cared for and maintained.

Club insurance also offers a host of benefits and products that you simply cannot get outside of membership of the JEC, such as member to member cover for example. This enables you to drive your friends Jaguars at regional meets, events and on tours with fully comprehensive cover and without the need to complete more paperwork or ring up and incur costs for adding named drivers.

This way, you’ll be comfortable knowing that you have a policy that fits your vehicle and your usage needs perfectly.
